Mengqi Fang (President)
I was enrolled into the University of Alberta in September 2015 with my master degree in China and now I am pursuing my Ph.D. degree in Computer Process Control group of Chemical Engineering. My research mainly focuses on data analysis and chemical process monitoring, also with my personal preference of programming.

With keen interest in volunteer activities, I used to participate in the long-term voluntary education, the translator of the 24th Air Traffic Control Global Conference, etc. Moreover, throughout my undergraduate and graduate student life, I kept working in the student union of both university and department. It is the inherent curiosity that drives me to do various temptations out of my current domain, such as the short-term internship of clinical diabetic analysis at Beijing Fuwai Hospital. The courage and opportunity of trying new things are worshipful and that is also the objective our CMEGSA team wants to achieve.
It is my pleasure to have the opportunity to work together with the CMEGSA team to make life a difference in U of A. We really appreciate your feedback, comments and suggestions at any time.
Runzhi (Anna) Xu (VP Academics)
I joined University of Alberta in January 2016. My research focuses on water settling mechanism in bitumen froth treatment. I did my bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Toronto. Prior to my graduation last year, I decided to pursue an advanced degree in Oil Sands. Alberta becomes the best place to go. I am excited to join CMEGSA as VP Academic. I believe my previous experience of student groups at U of T, my experience as an international student will support me to perform better at this role. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I completed my BSc in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh. Currently, I’m pursuing my master’s degree in the Dept. of Chemical and Materials Engineering of Ualberta under the supervision of Dr. John Shaw. My research area is focused on phase behavior of heavy oils. The hypothesis being tested is does depletion flocculation phase behavior arises in asphaltene rich oils.
Previously, I served as VP Sports of Bangladeshi Students Association at University of Alberta where I was responsible to organize sports events. I have volunteered in several cultural programs arranged by BSAUA and BCAE.
Besides volunteering, I am interested in photography, playing cricket and music.
Now I am working with other CMEGSA group members as VP student services. Feel free to contact with me if you have any questions or suggestions.
Umme Aulia Munira (VP Finance)
I am pursuing my master’s in chemical engineering under the supervision of Dr. Lianne Lefsrud. My research is focused on cost and claim payments for loss incidents due to workplace injury and diseases. I completed my Bachelor degree in chemical engineering from Bangladesh. I was involved in various voluntary activities during that stint. I also worked for Nestlé Bangladesh Limited around a year as a quality assurance officer. I gained some significant industrial experiences there.
